The Klinikum rechts der Isar university hos­pital of the Technical University of Munich is a major European center of medical care and edu­cation and teaching with 1,161 beds and around 5,500 emplo­yees. Every year around 60,000 patients bene­fit from inpatient and around 250.000 patients from out­patient care. The hos­pital is a supra-maximal care home that covers the entire spec­trum of modern medicine. Since 2003, the Klinikum rechts der Isar is an insti­tute of public law of the Free State of Bavaria.

The Department for Neurology at Klinikum rechts der Isar of the Technical University Munich is recrui­ting an ambi­tious PhD (f/m/d) to study basic prin­ciples in glial cell biology during auto­immune inflam­matory and degenera­tive diseases of the central ner­vous system.

Qualification:

Candidates (f/m/d) should hold a PhD degree in bio­medical research, bio­engineering or related areas and possess a strong interest to unravel immuno­logical ques­tions in inflam­matory and degenerative diseases with the goal of developing novel thera­peutic stra­tegies.

Job Description:

The PhD (f/m/d) will work on a fas­cinating project focus­sing on glial co-inhibitory signa­ling in acute and chronic stages of auto­immune inflam­mation in the central nervous system, as well as its modu­lation by environ­mental and micro­bial factors. A young and dynamic research environ­ment in a fully equipped and experien­ced wet and trans­lational labo­ratory will allow candi­dates to esta­blish and further their unique skill set with high rele­vance for basic and trans­lational research.
