Auffällig viel wird in letzter Zeit darüber geschrieben, wie Wissenschaftler mit Journalisten kommunizieren sollen. Beispiele gibt es etwa hier, hier und hier. Was wir aber nirgendwo gefunden haben, ist, dass Forscher Reportern durchaus auch mit Humor begegnen dürfen.
Zum Glück erleben wir das in unserer täglichen Redaktionsarbeit hin und wieder trotzdem. Wie etwa kürzlich, als eine unserer Autorinnen einen Berliner In-cell-NMR-Spezialisten um einen Gesprächstermin bat. Sie mailte ihm:

Dessen Antwort kam umgehend — und war herrlich ironisch formuliert:
Well, no … in-cell NMR doesn’t work at all (that’s why they publish in Nature) … No interesting results whatsoever (this is why the NIH has just awarded a 5 Mio. $ grant) … And we don’t really know what to do the whole day (being called an in-cell NMR lab) … Yeah, it’s really bleak … The 10 people in the lab are utterly bored (and no, nobody is head hunting them) … Out of this boredom, I wrote the Current Opinion in Structural Biology review … Had to force it onto them, nobody wanted to read it … I am afraid, it will be terribly boring talking to me … But since I have nothing better to do, you might as well give me a call … How did I ever get this position? … And why are we funded so well? …
Da muss man ja mächtig gespannt sein auf das eigentliche Gespräch. Die beste Voraussetzung für eine gute Forscher-Reporter-Kommunikation.
